Japan: Tesla starts deploying Superchargers at 7-Eleven stores

Tesla has started deploying Superchargers at Japan's popular convenience store chain, 7-Eleven, beginning with an outlet in the Shibokuchi area of Kawasaki City (Kanagawa Prefecture). This marked the opening of its 150th Supercharger location in the country.

The first 7-Eleven store houses four Superchargers, each with a peak output of 250 kW, and customers can access them 24/7. Tesla charges 37 yen (€0.20) per minute at outputs of up to 60 kW, 78 yen (€0.43) at 60–100 kW, 122 yen (€0.67) at 100–180 kW, and 200 yen (€1.10) at 180–250 kW. The company operates the new charging station 24/7.

Tesla provides a five-minute grace period after charging ends, beyond which it levies an idle fee of up to 100 yen (€0.55) for every minute the EV remains connected to the Supercharger if half or more of the charging station is occupied. It has not installed any Destination Chargers at the 7-Eleven Kawasaki Shibokuchi Higashi store.

Just days after opening a Supercharger site, the company also started offering test drives of the Model Y at 7-Eleven stores. By the end of March 2027, Tesla plans to expand the availability of Superchargers at 7-Eleven stores in Japan to approximately ten outlets.
