ev.energy Launches Charge & Earn in Great Britain with Over 10,000 Enrolled Assets
LONDON, UK - September 3, 2026 - Grid-edge orchestration provider ev.energy has officially launched Charge & Earn, a new program paying drivers in Great Britain for offering flexible smart charging. Operated through ev.energy's Eve™ multi-DER orchestration platform, the initiative launches with more than 10,000 flexible assets already enrolled and trading in UK energy markets.
Participants currently enrolled in the program earn an average of £25 per month based on five smart charges per week. Alongside the consumer-facing app program, ev.energy has opened the Charge & Earn Network, allowing energy retailers, fleet operators, charge point operators, and B2B partners to capture value from the EV charging flexibility supplied by their users.
Grid Flexibility and Behavioral Friction
Electrification is expanding power demand while introducing variability to power networks. Shifting load away from peak periods provides grid stability as electric vehicles, heat pumps, stationary batteries, and renewable energy sources expand.
Unlocking user flexibility has historically been hindered by complex energy market structures, low-value reward caps, or requirements for manual consumer intervention. Charge & Earn automates the process: drivers plug in normally, and the Eve platform shifts charging schedules to high-value grid periods, passing market value back to the user.
Nick Woolley, CEO and Co-Founder of ev.energy, stated:
"The grid needs flexibility, and EV charging is the biggest untapped source of it we have. Charge & Earn is effortless for drivers, open to everyone, and it pays out on every eligible charge, so participants are always better off. With the Charge & Earn Network, fleets and partners can now share in the value their drivers create. The more people who take part, the more we can unlock value for the grid, soak up renewables, and drive energy bills down."
Program Architecture: Consumer App and B2B Network
The Charge & Earn framework operates across three core elements:
Automated Smart Charging: Drivers connect their vehicle or home charger via the ev.energy app. Charging schedules adjust automatically based on grid demand without impacting vehicle readiness.
Hardware Interoperability: Powered by the Eve platform, the software connects to over 80% of the European EV and charger hardware market, eliminating single-OEM or specific hardware restrictions.
Charge & Earn Network for Businesses: Retailers, fleet managers, and commercial operators access ev.energy's APIs to enroll driver cohorts into energy flexibility markets without building proprietary settlement or market trading infrastructure.
Scaling Virtual Power Plants Across International Markets
Charge & Earn runs on Eve, ev.energy's B2B SaaS DER orchestration platform deployed across more than 55 programs in North America and Europe. The platform handles end-to-end VPP lifecycle management, from customer enrollment and real-time dispatch to settlement-grade measurement and verification (M&V).
As enrollment grows in Great Britain, ev.energy plans to utilize the Charge & Earn framework to integrate additional distributed energy devices into virtual power plant programs as regulatory frameworks evolve across European and North American markets.
Drivers in Great Britain can check their eligibility and sign up via the Charge & Earn website, while businesses interested in the Charge & Earn Network can contact ev.energy directly.
