Freight technology company Einride is acquiring Flipturn, a developer of charging and energy management software for electric fleets in an all-stock transaction worth US$38.4 million.

According to Einride, the acquisition will create North America's largest heavy-duty EV charging network and expand its software offering for commercial fleet electrification.

The deal is intended to strengthen Einride's US expansion strategy by integrating Flipturn's charging and energy management software into its existing electric freight platform. The combined offering will include charge point management, energy management systems and an e-mobility service provider (eMSP) layer for connecting fleets to third-party charging infrastructure.

"This acquisition is a decisive step in our US scaling strategy. Flipturn will further strengthen Einride's software layer for electric heavy-duty freight optimisation and improve our customer offering by adding more cost efficient, more reliable and accessible charging to our customers," said Roozbeh Charli, CEO, Einride. "With Flipturn, Einride is expected to become the first company in the industry with a fully vertically integrated electric freight technology stack."

Einride said the integration will also enhance its Saga AI platform, which has supported more than 19 million electric miles globally. Flipturn's software uses AI to optimise charging schedules, power delivery and battery performance, while managing charger uptime, driver access, payments and on-site energy controllers.

The company added that Flipturn's energy management capabilities can help fleet operators reduce electricity costs by optimising charging against time-of-use tariffs and peak demand charges. Einride also expects aggregated charging demand to improve its ability to negotiate access to third-party charging networks.

The acquisition is expected to be completed in July 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
