BYD announced the delivery of its 100,000th new energy vehicle in the UK in mid-June. It has become the fastest brand to capture a 5% EV market share in UK automotive history.
It took BYD only over two years to hit the 100,000 delivery milestone, with its battery electric vehicles ranking No.1 in UK pure EV sales. Young private buyers and ride-hailing fleets make up its core customer base, attracted by ultra-fast charging, top safety ratings and cost-effective pricing.
BYD plans to build 300 exclusive ultra-fast charging stations across the UK by the end of 2026, supporting its full lineup of 800V high-voltage EVs, which charge from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes. UK EV subsidies impose strict carbon footprint limits that largely exclude Chinese vehicles. BYD's surging sales under unequal competition prove Chinese EVs are widely recognized by mainstream European consumers.
